Show the Teachers Love
Teacher Appreciation was actually last week. However, so was Mother's Day, being a mother that trumped other celebrations. I am also married to a NC high school teacher, so I am fully committed to supporting teachers and appreciate every single thing they do for their students, fellow teachers, and community. I did send a few treats throughout the week but this week with summer in mind I plan to make individual gifts for each teacher within his department (as well as a few favorite administrators and teachers from other departments)
North Carolina schools recently ranked close to the bottom of the bucket a couple years ago. This passed year it has risen to the 38th spot in education systems throughout the US.
Typically when I do gifts I prefer to give something that will be used or eaten. I don't want to gift something that will not be used or just sit there collecting dust. I'll wrap it up pretty but the gift will be useful.
Here are some of my FAVORITES!
My first go to are themed gift baskets. Many of my husband's coworkers are women, so this year I will be doing a "pamper" basket, with nail polish, polish remover, face masks, etc. For a more gender neutral I go for a food inspired or movie night basket. There are so many ideas out there!
If the month is a little tight, I let them pick their own gift via a gift card. Chickabug has the cutest printable around! I love how Skip to my Lou took it a step further by adding some treats to go with a movie theater gift card. There are plenty of websites that you can check out to win FREE gift cards, one of my favorites is Swagbucks. They have a very easy process to redeem gift cards. When my husband and I first started dating he was in the middle of student teaching. I made him a similar "emergency kit" like above. I used an inexpensive tackle box and filled it with candy, office supplies, his favorite pens, etc. It was a big hit!
