Under the Sea
My son is TWO. Today he is officially a toddler, no longer a baby. I am thrilled and sad at the same time. I started thinking about what his birthday theme should be earlier this summer. My husband and I did a spur of the moment trip with my sister and her littles to the Greensboro Science Center. The aquarium side was a BIG HIT! He stood in front of this fish tank for nearly 20 minutes.
Insert my inspiration for his birthday party this year. I started searching for the perfect decorations, food/beverage puns, and cake inspirations I could via Pinterest and Etsy. This is what I came up with...
The initial set up began with cutting out all of my printables found from SIMONE Made It and blowing up the balloons. Putting them on the wall was more difficult than I originally anticipated. (See below) They kept sliding down the wall.. which I guess in a round about way worked to recreate a constantly moving ocean. HA!
The hallway was really fun to decorate. I used green crepe paper streamers to make sea weed, shower loufas and coffee filters for the jelly fish all of which came from the Dollar Tree.
His cake, which I clearly was not fast enough to get a picture of before he dug in, was a giant purple and yellow fish. Similar to the cupcakes, just multicolored like a rainbow fish.
Fun stations for the children included a coloring station with several under the sea themed coloring pages and a DIY hand fish puppet craft found at Blitsy.
If you have a birthday coming up, make sure to check out Simone Made It on Etsy before looking anywhere else. Her party packs come in a variety of themes for any age and all editable. I will definitely be using her again.
